Lots of Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to share their frustrations at the latest claim to emerge amid the speculation surrounding their manager hunt.

Villarreal boss Unai Emery brought the heavy links to the Newcastle vacancy to a halt on Wednesday after releasing a statement saying he will be remaining at the La Liga side.

According to the Daily Mirror, offers to the managerial candidates for the job on Tyneside include a clause to terminate the manager’s contract if the Toon were to go down at the end of the season.

This claim comes following the heavily linked Emery confirming he will not be leaving Villarreal for the north-east of England.

Newcastle fans flocked to Twitter to share their frustrations with the club as their search for a new permanent manager enters its third week.

What did these Newcastle fans have to say?

“I would expect nothing less”

“Explains a lot if true in Emery’s case like”
“Sounds a bit mike ashley’ish that like”
“Its a shambles from Amanda.”
“Can totally understand why he’s had 2nd thoughts tbh, it would have been nice to have nabbed him from Villarreal, but if he’s comfortable there and the boards there is happy with him, why should he take a huge risk on us!”
“I suppose its a big risk, if on one hand he has a European side and an owner guaranteeing him his position and on the other a newly owned side fighting relegation where he could be out of a job from in half a year. Its a shame for us though.”

It is now believed the favourite for the job is Eddie Howe, who reportedly impressed the Newcastle owners more than Emery did during the interview process.

There is no surprise these Toon fans are growing in frustration. Their club are currently only ahead of Norwich City in the league table and 10 games deep without a single win to their name.

It feels like the clock is ticking on the Newcastle owners to find a new manager as the gap to escaping relegation grew by an extra three points after 17th-placed Leeds United beat the Canaries last weekend.
