Newcastle United fans have flocked to Twitter to share their delight at the latest transfer claim to emerge ahead of the January window.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona are believed to be ready to accept an offer for Philippe Coutinho from the Toon for an initial loan with the obligation to buy at the end of the season.
Would Coutinho be a good signing?
Yes
No
The report also suggests with Xavi expected to become the new Barca manager, the Brazilian midfielder will not be included in his plans for the future.
Coutinho has had a difficult time out in Spain since leaving Liverpool in 2018, which has seen him offloaded to Bayern Munich on loan and fail to nail down a regular spot in the starting XI (via Transfermarkt).
Toon fans flocked to a tweet from NUFC 360 relaying the claims as they shared their excitement over the concept of the 29-year-old playing in front of the St. James’ Park crowd.
What did these Newcastle fans have to say?
“DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT”
The Brazilian made 152 appearances in the Premier League over the course of his time at Liverpool, which saw him find the back of the net 41 times and provide 37 assists (via Transfermarkt).
It is apparent these Toon fans are excited about the prospect, and we are not surprised given the form he showed during his time at Anfield, which earned him a £121m transfer to the La Liga giants.
