A whole host of Newcastle United fans on Twitter are very happy to see Martin Dubravka complete 90 minutes for Slovakia last week.

The 32-year old has been sidelined with an injury that he picked up while away with his national team, but despite not even featuring once for Newcastle this season, he was called up by Slovakia for this latest round of international fixtures and kept a clean sheet against Malta.

Will Newcastle get relegated?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Dubravka has been Newcastle’s undisputed number one ever since arriving under Rafa Benitez in 2018, initially on loan, with the only time he hasn’t featured between the sticks being due to injuries, which have started to occur more often.

Now that the shot-stopper appears to be back and ready to play considering he id just that only a few days ago, new manager Eddie Howe could be tempted to hand him his first start of the season against Brentford on Saturday.

A lot of Newcastle fans on Twitter would love to see Howe start Dubravka this weekend after he played for Slovakia last week.

What have these Newcastle fans been saying?

“Gotta start against Brentford. He won’t…but he needs to.”

@ToonMouthTyne

“Get him in the starting 11 on Saturday!”

@RazzleDazzle_26

“Start him against Brentford”

@Magpie24_7

“Straight back in Saturday, had enough of darlow pretending he can kick a ball”

@Samtoon15

“Get him back between the sticks Eddie”

@ToonBlackWhite

“Play him.”

@Chebs4377

“Wow achievement”

This has been the second season in a row that Karl Darlow has started after Durbavka came into the 2020/21 campaign nursing an injury and only ended up making his first start of the season in February, and now the former Nottingham Forest keeper could find himself relegated to the bench once again.

If Dubravka is going to struggle with his fitness and remaining on the pitch going forward, then links suggesting the Magpies could move for the likes of Marc-Andre ter Stergen and Dean Henderson may not be too fabricated, especially if Howe wants to bring in his own number one.
