Former Leeds United player David Norris thinks that it might be too risky to rely on Lewis Bate at this stage. 

The 19-year-old has been a regular for Leeds United U23s so far this season in both the Premier League 2 and also the EFL Trophy, where he got on the scoresheet in the club’s last outing in the competition against Salford City.

The youngster has shown his versatility because as well as playing his natural position of central midfield, he has also featured as both a defensive and attacking midfielder during this campaign.

The Leeds United first team got their second win of the Premier League campaign on the board last time out as they defeated Norwich City 2-1 at Carrow Road, thanks to goals from Raphinha and Rodrigo and moved onto ten points.

With Leeds not having the best of starts to the new season, ex-Leeds player Norris thinks it might be too risky for Marcelo Bielsa to rely on Bate at this stage.

He told This is Futbol: “Like I said, might be at this stage with how it’s going, might be a bit too risky to rely on him.”

Bate caught the attention of Leeds United reporter for Leeds United Live, Joe Donnohue, who posted a video of the youngster in action against Oldham Athletic on his personal social media account, with the caption: “Lewis Bate doing Lewis Bate things against League Two Oldham last night. Scanning (repeatedly), pressing, cutting off supply lines and creating chances. He’s begging to assert himself as a reliable operator at the base of the #LUFC U23 midfield.”
