Former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer is puzzled by the fact that Wilfried Zaha is still at Crystal Palace and has asked those in the game about the lack of serious interest from other clubs.

Zaha made it clear earlier this year that he is ready for another shot at a leading outfit after a disappointing spell at Manchester United, while he has also been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea in the past.

In fact, ex-Arsenal manager Unai Emery even revealed to The Guardian that he was keen on bringing the 29-year-old to the Emirates and wanted to sign him instead of Nicolas Pepe.

Since then, though, interest in Zaha has cooled, something that Palmer cannot understand.

“I keep asking the question, why is Zaha not at a top club?” the ex-Leeds United and Southampton star said to TIF. “I can’t get an answer. I’m asking people in the game. I think he’s an outstanding player.”

This season, Zaha is once again proving that he is indeed an outstanding player. The Ivory Coast international has been bang in form, scoring in his last two outings, including against the current Premier League champions Manchester City.

Palace fans will certainly not be complaining about their academy graduate still being at the club.
