Arsenal writer Charles Watts has claimed that a bid for striker Dusan Vlahovic this January from the Premier League club is looking unlikely.

In the past few weeks, the Fiorentina forward has been linked with a possible move to the Gunners. Beyond that, north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur also seem to be in the race.

With 10 goals to his name at club level already this season, it’s not hard to guess why the youngster is attracting so much attention.

However, while speaking on his own YouTube channel, Watts claimed that Arsenal are not lining up any kind of move for when the winter transfer window opens up at the start of 2022.

He outlined the current situation, saying (01:44): “A lot of the talk is about January. From what I understand, it’s just not something that’s going to be happening. You know, this isn’t a player Arsenal are talking about for January, it’s not one.

‘There’s been no negotiations over a possible January transfer. It’s just not the case.”

TIF thoughts on Dusan Vlahovic and Arsenal…

The 21-year-old’s contract ends in the summer of 2023, so if Fiorentina were to sell him, they would likely make the most money this January before he enters the final 12 months of his deal.

Taking this into account, that may explain why he is being linked with a number of clubs at present. Juventus are also said to be keeping tabs on his current situation.

Should Arsenal try to sign Dusan Vlahovic?

Arsenal will likely need to sign a new striker in the coming transfer windows, with both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah now in the final year of their contracts.

Still, if Watts is right with his claim, a move for Vlahovic does not seem imminent. With plenty of competition for the striker too, if the Gunners do hesitate in January he could be gone by the time next summer comes around.
