Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to urge Nuno Espirito Santo to give academy star Dilan Markanday a chance in the first-team.

The 20-year-old was in fine form for the club’s U23s on Friday night, scoring one as his team fell to a 4-3 defeat to Crystal Palace at Premier League 2 level.

Do you want to see Markanday in the 1st team?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

And, after seeing his performance, Spurs fans took to Twitter to wonder why he hasn’t been given a chance to make his mark on the first-team.

What do Spurs fans think of Dilan Markanday?

“It’s scandalous , how @DilanMarkanday is being constantly overlooked for the first team squad despite his consistently great performances for the U23s. I won’t blame him if he wants to leave rather than waste his talent here playing for the U23s.”

@spurs_specialk

“Play Markanday ahead of Dele please. And move Dele to U-23.”

@sspursified

“Devine and markanday are better then our current players”

@bk_thfc

“Play devine and markanday in the conference, both clear of dele”

@thfc_lucasz

“If he won’t get a chance I’m done with this club”

@19lukeyy94

“Dilan Markanday will be the next Noni if we don’t start giving him chances in the first team. He’s such a talented player and deserves a chance.”

@blthfc

With Spurs struggling at senior level, it’s at least somewhat reassuring that the north Londoners have at least got a couple coming through the academy who look like real talents.

Nuno’s men have been in poor form in recent weeks, and perhaps the introduction of some of these young talents like Markanday could breathe a bit of fresh air into the dressing room and the club.

And it appears Markanday is certainly one who the fans would love to see sometime soon.

Whether he makes it into Sunday’s squad against Aston Villa in the Premier League remains to be seen, but he’s got the backing of the home support.
