A number of Sunderland fans have been left unhappy after manager Lee Johnson spoke in an interview following the club’s most recent match.

Over the weekend, the Black Cats fell to a disappointing defeat a the hands of Charlton Athletic. A single goal from Jayden Stockley was enough to inflict a shock 1-0 home loss upon Sunderland.

After the game, Johnson offered up his verdict on a ‘disappointing’ outing for his side, stating: “Today it just wasn’t to be. We didn’t get the rub of the green in terms of decisions. We didn’t get the rub of the green in terms of ricochets in the box.

“And obviously, some big match key decision went against us.”

The interview was shared on Twitter by the club’s official Twitter account and it gave supporters a chance to offer their own thoughts on the matter.

Here’s what these Sunderland fans said

“Poor timing and choice of substitutes yet again.”

“I will be glad to see this team relegated to National league, what a disastrous
match I’ve seen today, wasted my data watching this useless Sunderland. Kiss premier League goodbye fools.”
“Sad to see such poor play…”
“I’m sick of saying the same thing but yet again today Jumbo was REACTIVE instead of being bloody PROACTIVE & this is a constant theme that inevitably costs us points.. the tactical ineptitude & shambolic use of subs does become a concern..especially judging today’s baffling bunch.”
“Lee, you should put your stubbornness aside and let the best players play rather than your choice. You leave it far too long to change subs.”
“Should never have lost that. 2 games in hand though. COME ON LADS!”
It seems as though these supporters are not particularly happy with Johnson after his role in the defeat. Even so, the Black Cats remain in a good position to push for promotion into the Championship this season.
