Football journalist Mark Ogden has been speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s Twitch stream to discuss the latest news coming out of Manchester United.

Following an embarrassing defeat on the weekend to their bitter rivals Liverpool, the pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s position at the club has only intensified.

Who would you prefer at Old Trafford?

The defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s side has the Red Devils slumped in seventh spot of the Premier League table with an eight-point deficit to the league leaders, Chelsea.

However, reports have since emerged suggesting the Norwegian will remain in charge at Old Trafford for their upcoming Premier League trip to north London as they face Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking about potential managerial options United could pursue if they were to cut ties with the 48-year-old manager, Ogden had the following to say on the former Spurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino.

(2:15) “I can tell that there are still a lot of supporters within United for Mauricio Pochettino. Now, Pochettino signed a new contract at PSG in the summer, but PSG haven’t made a great start to the season.

“So if United try to get Pochettino it will be very difficult, so I think they’re assessing their options in the next week. It’s an international break soon so I think this next week and a half [will] give them the time to decide do we stay with Solskjaer, do we give him the chance to turn it around or do we find somebody now that can take over after the International break?”

TIF Thoughts on Pochettino to United…

We think Pochettino would make a great option for United given the relative success he had at Tottenham over his years in north London.

Granted, he was unable to bring a trophy to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, however, we think the experience he will have gained in working with some of the world’s biggest names in Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

One thing which is worth noting is Pochettino could be viewed as a long-term option considering he did not provide instant success at Paris Saint-Germain last season as they watched Lille get their hands on the Ligue 1 title.
