Journalist Stuart Hodge believes that the problem with Celtic defensively is in the full-back areas.

Celtic picked up four points from their last two games in the Scottish Premiership prior to the international break, drawing against Dundee United 1-1 and then winning away against Aberdeen 2-1 but in between those two results was the 4-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League.

Where do you think Celtic will finish in the Scottish Premiership this season?

With Celtic conceding six goals in those three matches, Hodge believes there are issues in the full-back area, telling This is Futbol: “I think the problem with Celtic defensively is in the full-back areas quality wise and then I think the key thing is it’s more of a systemic kind of thing because it’s about getting used to the demands of the manager and playing the way that he did.”

Adam Montgomery and Tony Ralston have featured at fullback for Celtic and manager Ange Postecoglou was full of praise for Montgomery after the Aberdeen victory, telling the Scottish Sun: “For him and Tony Ralston this is their first sort of steps in senior football for Celtic.

“We knew it was going to be tough going for Monty this year. With Greg Taylor out and Liam Scales not quite ready yet he was the one that we were going to rely on.”

With Celtic completing a number of signings during the summer and being under new management, things could take time to fully click but everybody connected with the Hoops will be hoping that they can get on a good run of form and challenge for silverware this season.
