Journalist Stuart Hodge believes that Rangers will keep hold of Nathan Patterson despite the player being linked with Everton.

The Daily Record reported that Patterson attracted the attention of Everton during the summer, but the defender stayed at Ibrox beyond the August 31 deadline.

The 19-year-old full-back featured 14 times for Rangers last season in all competitions scoring two goals and ahead of the club’s league match this weekend against Hibernian, Patterson has featured on three occasions for the Gers, twice in the League Cup and once in Europa League qualifying.

Despite interest in his signature this summer, Hodge believes Rangers will keep hold of Patterson. When asked by This is Futbol if he thinks they are going to retain his services, he said:

“I think they will. See though with Rangers, in fact with all the clubs in Scotland, there’s always a lot of discussion about what the finances are really like.”

After guiding Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title last season, manager Steven Gerrard looked to strengthen his side with four new arrivals. Juninho Bacuna, Fashion Sakala, Nnamdi Ofoborh and John Lundstram all signed deals at Ibrox, and the Rangers boss will be hoping that his team can put together a good run of form and defend their title.
