These Celtic fans have been reacting to comments made by Alan Hutton about Swedish defender Carl Starfelt.
The 26-year-old defender has been a near ever-present in the Celtic side this season, playing in every minute of all bar two of the team’s games, however, it hasn’t all been plain sailing for the Swede during that time, as he has occasionally come in for criticism for his performances.
And speaking during an interview for Football Insider, Hutton stated that he felt like Starfelt might soon be out of the team once players like Cameron Carter-Vickers and Christopher Jullien come back into the fold:
“It’s been a tough start to the season for him.
“You look at the likes of Jullien coming back soon. It’s been a problem area for them. Bringing in two new signings in Carter-Vickers and Starfelt, it’s been a tough start for them. You would think that Jullien will come back and hopefully settle the ship for them. It’s whoever is going to play alongside.
“I would go for Carter-Vickers. I think he can be solid. He will be a better player playing next to someone experienced.”
These comments were relayed to fans by the Celtic Insider Facebook page for them to react to, with the page asking whether or not he should be dropped, and there seemed to be plenty of fans in support of the idea following Hutton’s comments:
Have you been impressed with Starfelt so far?
Central defence is an area that Celtic are certainly stocked in, so when they do come back there will be plenty of competition for places, but whether or not Starfelt survives it will be a different matter entirely.
