Speaking on the Hammers Chat YouTube channel, presenter Gonzo has been discussing the latest in West Ham United related transfer news.

One player which was discussed was Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, with the Serie A club reportedly looking to offload the American.

Tottenham Hotspur were linked with the 23-year-old over the summer – their director of football, Fabio Paratici, was the man who brought the midfielder to the Turin club.

Over the summer, reports emerged suggesting Juventus were looking for a fee in the region of £25m for the American’s services, but ultimately ended up keeping McKennie at the club.

Meanwhile, West Ham have been mentioned as potential suitors for the former Schalke man (as per TEAMTalk)

Discussing the possibility of McKennie making a move to the London Stadium in one of the upcoming transfer windows, Gonzo had the following to say.

“Apparently, they could look to sell him. Apparently, they might want to do a swap with Tottenham for [Tanguy] Ndombele.

“But I’ve heard it mentioned more than once now, that young Weston McKennie might be somebody we might look to get in if Declan [Rice] moves on to pastures new.”

TIF Thoughts on Gonzo’s comments…

This will likely come as bittersweet to many West Ham fans, who may want to see their club make a move for McKennie in the transfer window.

If a potential deal for the £22.5m-rated ace depended on whether Declan Rice was to stay at the club – with Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly interested over the summer – we think it could make the 23-year-old a less desirable option to the fans.

However, it has been claimed Rice is looking at his options beyond West Ham, and if that is the case, we think McKennie could offer the Hammers a good option in replacing the England international, having already proven himself as a frequent starter across Serie A, the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
