Former Premier League striker Dean Windass has revealed that he told Jarrod Bowen not to turn down a move to the top flight before his switch to West Ham.

Bowen had been in terrific form for Hull City, scoring 54 goals in 131 games and also registering 14 assists for the Tigers.

The 24-year-old’s form in the 2019/2020 Championship season, where he scored 16 goals and provided six assists caught the attention of West Ham and in the 2020 January transfer window, Bowen signed a five-and-a-half-year deal with the Hammers in a deal worth £20m plus according to BBC Sport.

“I spoke to him in a nightclub just before he left Hull City. Hull City had offered him a new contract and I said look if you get an opportunity to go play in the Premier League, you don’t turn it down and he never.”

Since joining the London Stadium, Bowen has scored ten goals for the Hammers and registered 13 assists in all competitions.

Whilst predominantly playing on the right-wing for West Ham, Bowen has shown his versatility as he has also featured as a left-winger, centre-forward, second striker and an attacking midfielder.
