Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer believes Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic would be a good signing for West Ham.

Eurosport mention West Ham and Arsenal as two sides who could be interested in signing Jovic when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 23-year-old joined Real Madrid from Eintracht Frankfurt back in 2019, but things have not quite worked out. As a result of his struggles, Jovic rejoined Frankfurt on loan for the second half of last season, scoring four goals in 18 appearances during that short spell.

Should West Ham make a bid for Jovic?

It now looks like Real Madrid could be ready to get rid of him for good, and Palmer likes the sound of the Serbia international linking up with David Moyes at the London Stadium.

“It’d be a good signing. It’d be a good signing,” the ex-Leeds United player said. “I think they do need another striker and I think he’s been very vocal about that.

“[Michail] Antonio’s done very well, but if he gets injured or he’s out the side… he is their talisman. I think for sure they’re in a hunt to bring in another striker to the football club.”

Jovic is still young so has time to rediscover the kind of form he showed back in the 2018/19 season. The Real Madrid man scored 27 goals in all competitions that campaign, so he looks well worth the punt if West Ham can get him for a reasonable price.
