Former Premier League player Carlton Palmer believes Aaron Ramsey’s wages at Juventus could be a stumbling block for West Ham.

The Sun has reported that Juventus would be willing to let Ramsey return to the Premier League and are prepared to let him move for free this winter, with West Ham, Everton and Newcastle on alert for him.

Ramsey swapped London for Italy in 2019, with BBC Sport previously reporting that the deal to take him over to Turin was worth over £400,000 per week.

“I just don’t see how he would fit into West Ham because obviously he’s on a huge salary at Juventus,” Palmer told This is Futbol. “So I don’t know how that works but maybe if he’s available on a free then they can work it that way or the fee’s not particularly big they can work it that way. I don’t know. We will have to see.”

During his time in Turin, Ramsey has featured in 69 matches in all competitions, scoring six goals and providing six assists. The Wales international has also helped Juventus lift the Serie A title, as well as the Italian Cup and Italian Super Cup in the 2020/2021 season.

He also had previous success when with Arsenal as he won three FA Cups and two Community Shields during his eleven-year spell with the Gunners, featuring in 369 games and scoring 64 goals and providing 65 assists.
