Many Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to rave about Nuno Espirito Santo’s decision to omit Dele Alli from the starting XI against Newcastle in the Premier League.

Looking to gain a second successive win in the competition following their narrow 2-1 victory against Aston Villa prior to the international break, many Spurs have rejoiced as Nuno has made the big decision to omit Dele from the starting XI for the clash against Newcastle.

This follows confirmation within an official club statement, announced shortly before kick-off, that the two Spurs players who initially tested positive for Covid on Friday were in fact false positives.

What did Spurs fans make of Nuno omitting Dele Alli from starting XI vs Newcastle?

“NO DELE YESSS”

@_23au

“At this point, I do think this is probably the best XI. No covid positives, no injuries, let’s get three points!”

@RobDauster

“Dele is so done at this club loooool, he may as well get a tour of the stadium to have a look round where he’ll be in Jan”

“THANK YOU NUNO”
“Nuno can stay if he keeps on benching Dele”

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to resurrect that early form they enjoyed back in August but will travel to a St James’ Park which will be full of jubilant Newcastle United fans following the recent Saudi-led takeover from Mike Ashley.

Both games between Newcastle and Tottenham last season finished level, but the Lilywhites have come up trumps in five of their last seven clashes at St James’ Park and have not failed to score on the Magpies’ turf in any competition since 2005. The Lilywhites will be looking to build on their impressive record on Tyneside and hoping to claim a vital three points against Steve Bruce’s side, with the Magpies boss taking charge of his 1,000th match amid intense speculation surrounding his future.
