Ahead of the January transfer window, the club have been linked with Inter Milan and Italian international midfielder Nico Barella as Nuno Espirito Santo looks to strengthen his squad.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Tottenham Hotspur are in a three-horse battle with Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool to sign Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella.

The 24-year-old has been incredible for the Nerazzurri since becoming a part of the first team in 2019. Last season, the Euro 2020 winner made 46 appearances across all competitions for the Serie A outfit, scoring three goals and provided a further 13 assists in the same period.

Should Spurs sign Barella?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

His contributions played a crucial role in Inter picking up their first Scudetto in a decade and has proven to be an integral component of Antonio Conte and now manager Simeone Inzaghi’s midfield, thereby making him a fan favourite at the San Siro.

The links linking the north London club to the Italian international has subsequently seen Spurs fans take to Twitter.

What did Spurs make of latest transfer update?

“Would love to see this but can’t see us beating Liverpool and Chelsea to a signing atm even with Paratici’s Italian links”

@RadmoreB

“I’d be keen to sign the best number 8 in the world as well to be fair”

“Would be phenomenal but phenomenal things don’t happen to spurs

@1882Spurs1

“Bro who do we think we are and Skipp is better imo”
“Please be true”
“We will finish 3rd in that race!!”
“He’s exactly what we need, but we won’t get him.”
“Like being a three legged donkey at the grand national”
“Ridiculous claim that Spurs are in for him.”
It is understandable why Spurs are interested in signing a talent like the Italian. The North London club currently possess the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Tanguy Ndombele and Oliver Skipp, and Harry Winks in the midfield line, but Barella would undoubtedly provide an upgrade on the North London’s side current set of midfield options.
