Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to claims by Fabrizio Romano about the future of Nuno Espirito Santo.

The first few months of the Nuno era at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have certainly been a rollercoaster for the Portuguese tactician.

Despite currently sitting 6th in the table, just two points off a spot in the Champions League, he has still had to deal with defeats in all of his games against London opponents and a shaky start in the Europa Conference League, all of which has started to plant some seeds of doubt about his future.

However, speaking on the latest edition of the Here We Go podcast (15:25), noted journalist Romano claimed that despite his troubles, Nuno still holds the support of the Tottenham board ‘Tottenham of course are a bit disappointed because of course losing London derbies is always not so great of course. But they are still protecting the manager’.

These comments were relayed by @LastWordOnSpurs & @TheSpursExpress for fans to react to, and it’s fair to say that there were plenty of fans who weren’t best pleased to hear it:

“Nuno is a great coach for the championship. Not the Spurs. Embarrassing.”

“We’re finished”
“No ambition Paratici out as well”
“He’s so out of his depth and it’s not going to work, it’s better to part ways now instead of pro longing the inevitable”
“That’s our season over then”
“No wonder the club fails all the time.”

It’s still early in the season so there is plenty of time to turn things around, but it will be interesting to see if the pressure from fans like this ultimately has any impact on Nuno’s future. And given that his contract reportedly contains a clause that would allow chairman Daniel Levy to get rid of him this summer without having to pay any compensation if they don’t finish in the top six, you could argue that the pressure is already pretty high enough as it is.
