Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to claims surrounding a number of their players who are away on international duty.

Following a rather chaotic time during the last international break, in which a number of their players were forced to train in Croatia given the UK’s rules for returning players in the current climate, it appears as though things won’t be smooth sailing for the club this time around, either.

According to a report from The Evening Standard, Tottenham are in discussions with the associations of Argentina, Brazil and Colombia over an early release of Argentine pair Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero, Colombia’s Davinson Sanchez and Brazilian defender Emerson Royal from international duty.

The report states: “Spurs still face being without them for their Premier League game against Newcastle on Sunday, October 17 unless their national associations agree to an early release.”

In a further update to the story, journalist Dan Kilpatrick noted on Twitter that Tottenham are “losing the battle to get their South Americans back early”.

This news was relayed to Tottenham fans by @thespursweb for them to react to, and it’s fair to say that there were plenty of them who were not happy with what they saw:

“Bruce licking his lips as we speak.”

“What a joke”
“Oh my days is this gonna happen every international break”
“This is an absolute joke”
“This isn’t right, we pay their wages.”
“This is becoming a big issue as the back ups in the squad are simply not good enough and there is another international break next month there is a danger that his will totally de rail our season which let’s face it is on the safest of tracks anyway!”
“Spurs lose most battles. Its the norm”

With just one win in their last four in the Premier League, Tottenham will need all the help they can get to put some points on the board, but whether or not these players will be able to help them, we’ll just have to wait and see.
