Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his latest YouTube video to discuss all things relating to the north London club.

Nuno Espirito Santo was able to relax some of the pressure surrounding his job on the weekend with their win over Dean Smith’s Aston Villa.

Nuno in or Nuno out?

Yes

No

No

A poor run of form in the Premier League saw the Portuguese manager’s position at the club put under question, despite only taking on the job in June.

Following the weekend’s victory, it was reported Spurs had a clause in the 47-year-old’s contract enabling them to sack Espirito Santo with no pay-off if they finished outside the top six.

Discussing David Ornstein’s report on the Tottenham manager, Gold had the following to say on what he understood about the claims being made.

“Personally, it does sound like the kind of thing Spurs would put in a contract, especially someone that they may be taking a little bit more of a risk on than the other managers that they were looking at.

“But I can only go on what I’m told. And certainly, I know that there’s an option for Spurs to give him a third year – I know about that. I hadn’t heard about this – I suppose it’s a break clause, really, isn’t it? I haven’t heard that myself, and Spurs maintain that it doesn’t exist.”

TIF Thoughts on Espirito Santo at Spurs…

It has certainly been a difficult period for the Lilywhites in the league since the previous international break, which has seen Tottenham pick up just three points from a possible 12.

We think there is certainly a lot of blame to be taken on by the players and the manager over the course of this period of results, with Spurs looking far from their best, especially in the defeat against Arsenal.

However, looking further ahead, Espirito Santo has been hit by a wave of injuries recently, and only over the last week have Spurs fans seen new centre-back Cristian Romero start frequently for the Lilywhites.

Although it has been a difficult month for Spurs, we think as Espirito Santo gets more time with his side and some of their new signings are able to integrate fully, things could get much better.
