Former Tottenham Hotspur player Graham Roberts believes it’s great news that Oliver Skipp is looking like signing a new contract with the club.

Tottenham Hotspur correspondent for football.london, Alasdair Gold was quizzed on a new contract for Skipp during a Q&A and he said: “I think it’s just a matter of time. He’s a kay starter now and he’s only going to get better. He loves it at the club and is a far more developed player than the one who signed a four-year deal 15 months ago, so I think that will be sorted sooner rather than later.”

The 21-year-old defensive midfielder spent last season out on loan with Norwich City and helped the Canaries to promotion from the Championship back to the Premier League.

Skipp got plenty of game time at Carrow Road, featuring 47 times for Norwich and since his return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, has played in eleven matches so far this season, including featuring in all of Spurs’ eight Premier League matches.

Roberts is delighted with the news that it is looking likely Skipp will sign a new deal soon, telling This is Futbol: “He’s learning his trade and he’s only young and they’re talking about he is going to sign a new contract in the next week, so great news.”

Skipp has made the second most successful tackles for Spurs so far this season in the Premier League with 19, which gives him a 61% tackle success rate.
