Former Tottenham Hotspur player Graham Roberts thinks something is not quite right with Dele Alli right now and believes it could be down to him not playing in his right position.

The 25-year-old’s preferred position is as an attacking midfielder which he has predominantly played during his time with Tottenham, but he has also featured a bit deeper as a central midfielder and as a defensive midfielder, as well as out wide on both the right and left wing and on occasions as a centre-forward.

Alli has been a key player for Spurs, featuring in over 260 matches in all competitions, but Roberts thinks something is not right at the moment, telling TIF

“I’m a big fan of Dele Alli’s but you know at the moment, I think he’s sort of on the back burner at the moment. Something just isn’t right with him, maybe it’s because he doesn’t play in his right position.”

Following Tottenham’s victory over Burnley in the Carabao Cup, manager Nuno Espirito Santo spoke to the Independent about the £27m-rated attacker and said: “Dele is one of the cases we have to try and improve.”

Alli has been very creative in the final third during his time with Tottenham as he has registered over 60 goals and 60 assists, and will be hoping that he rediscovers his form from the 2016/2017 campaign when he scored 22 goals in all competitions and registered 13 assists.
