Former Tottenham Hotspur player Graham Roberts thinks that Jesse Lingard would be a good buy for Spurs and believes his price will be around £4m-£5m

The Daily Star reported last year that Tottenham wanted to sign Lingard from Manchester United in a deal worth around £30m and with the England international having less than a year to run on his current contract, the Red Devils could look to cash in on him in January.

Sky Sports presenter Pete Graves also posted on his Twitter account, claiming he understood that the 28-year-old’s representatives were in attendance at St James’ Park for a game earlier this month.

Roberts believes that Lingard would be a good signing at the right price for Spurs, telling TIF: “They might be talking behind the scenes. Lingard, I think he’ll be going cheap. I think they were looking for £20m-odd last year, one year left on his contract. He’s got six months, maybe £4m, £5m – he’d be a good buy for that.”

Lingard has been a terrific servant for Manchester United, featuring in 217 matches, scoring 35 goals and registering 21 assists, as well as winning a number of trophies including the FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League and Community Shield.

On top of his time at Old Trafford, Lingard has had spells at Leicester, Birmingham, Brighton, Derby and most recently West Ham United. Playing under former Red Devils boss David Moyes at the London Stadium, Lingard was in brilliant form as he scored nine goals and provided five assists, helping the Hammers finish sixth in the Premier League and get a place in this campaign’s Europa League.
