Former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer has warned Tottenham that Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele would be a “crazy signing”.

According to 90min, Tottenham are just one club from England who are interested in signing the 24-year-old.

The same report also states that Dembele would want a pay rise on his current contract, which is already worth more than £200,000 a week.

On those kind of wages, though, and with his injury record, Palmer believes Tottenham would have to be mad to make a move.

Speaking exclusively to TIF about the north London club’s reported interest in Dembele, the ex-Leeds United and Southampton player said:

“The way that recruitment of players is done now and the in-depth analysis of players and their game time and their injuries and the type of money that Dembele would be commanding, I think it would be a crazy signing.”

There is no doubting Dembele’s ability. He brings so much creativity to his side, with the Frenchman racking up 12 league assists during that final season with Borussia Dortmund.

However, on his current wages and with the amount of injuries he has had since joining Barcelona (12), he looks like too much of a gamble for Nuno Espirito Santo and Spurs.
