Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to react to recent footage emerging of Eric Dier being booed at a MMA event in London.

The centre-back has been a virtual ever-present for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side this season in the Premier League, playing all six games, and after starting off by helping his team to three successive clean sheets, the defence has taken a step backwards.

How many points did Tottenham gain in the following seasons? First up: 2020/21

The Lilywhites have conceded nine goals in their previous three games, including a 3-1 defeat against north London rivals Arsenal at the Emirates last weekend.

Footage has now emerged of Dier attending an MMA event in his free time, and when his picture came up on screen, he was promptly met with boos.

What did Spurs fans make of the Dier footage?

“Plot Twist: The ones booing were Spurs fans”

@dalitaryan

“Probably our own fans booing tbf”

@NdanguyTombele_

“Surprised he didn’t run into the upper stands”

@MyranG26

“Rent free we’re massive”

@thfcmxtt

“Who wouldn’t boo him tho”

@shalaby_bido

“Same again tomorrow”

“Rent free”

In the last couple of years especially, Dier’s form has seen him disappear from England contention completely, while at Spurs, he faces increased competition for places following the summer arrival of Cristian Romero.

Whether it was indeed Spurs fans having a go at Dier, or perhaps more reasonably, rival supporters, the centre-back will no doubt be hoping to silence the critics on the pitch.

The Lilywhites next take on Aston Villa at home in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, and Dier and the rest of his teammates will be hoping to bounce back to form with a victory.

In other news, Spurs fans have urged this starlet to be given a chance…
