Former Tottenham Hotspur player Graham Roberts thinks the only way that Harry Kane would even entertain a bid from Newcastle is if they pay him £1m per week.

Following the takeover of Newcastle, there has been reports that the Magpies can spend up to £190million in the January transfer window without breaking any financial fair play rules but the Telegraph also reported that the budget for the winter window would be £50million.

Newcastle parted company with manager Steve Bruce in the week with Graeme Jones taking caretaker charge until a permanent appointment is made [Sky Sports].

When quizzed on whether Newcastle would come in with a huge bid for Harry Kane in January and whether Kane would entertain it, Roberts told This is Futbol: “No, not a chance! I suppose if they pay him a million pound a week maybe.”

The 28-year-old has featured in eleven games so far this season for Spurs, scoring seven goals and registering one assist.

Kane opened his Premier League account for the campaign in the club’s previous match against Newcastle United where he got on the scoresheet and also provided an assist, and will be hoping that he can get on a good run of form now and help push Tottenham further up the league table.
