A host of Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to react to the potential appointment of Villareal and former Arsenal boss Unai Emery as the new Newcastle manager.
The links come following an update from The Daily Mail in which the ex-PSG tactician was linked with a move from western Spain to the English north-east as speculation mounts over the longevity of Steve Bruce’s tenure as Newcastle boss.

Newcastle fan account Toon Army (@toonarmy_com) took to Twitter to survey its followers on the potential prospect of Emery being in the dugout at St James’ Park, and fans wasted no time in issuing their verdict.
What have some Newcastle fans been saying?
“Tactically astute. A thinking man. Miles and miles better than Bruce. We need to build. Biggest question for me is would he work in conjuncture with the new DOF (whoever that may be). A partnership and understanding is required to get the besf for, and out of the new manager.”
“Didn’t do great at Arsenal did he. I think the new owners will go for someone with more Premier League experience”
“Literally ANYONE to replace Bruce = YES!”
“Like him as a coach but worry about his poor English as I think that’s why he failed at Arsenal. Still would have him over bruce though!”
“He knows stuff about Football, so yes.”
“Anyone that isn’t Steve Bruce, so it’s a yes from me. He probably feels like he has unfinished business in the Premier League too.”
“Encouraged by the links to Emery, Martinez and Fonseca. Clearly, I’d take any of them. Emery is the pick of the bunch, for me, but we’d score a fair few goals under Fonseca or Martinez. I’d be worried about the defence, though. Favre still my top pick (from realistic options).”
“Yes he’s is class”
Fresh off winning the Europa League last season, Emery looks settled in his native Spain.
Newcastle have the resources to compensate for his arrival following the club’s recent takeover, but convincing Emery to up sticks from a club in which he appears to be settled might prove to be difficult.
