A lot of Newcastle United fans on Twitter are delighted with Keith Downie’s latest takeover update.

Newcastle fans could be set for some brighter days after 14 years of Mike Ashley owning the club, as an announcement on PCP Capital Partners becoming the new owners in a deal which will cost them £300 million is thought to be imminent.

Journalist Liam Kennedy reported earlier on Thursday that the new owners are looking to replace both Steve Bruce and Lee Charnley once they get the keys to Newcastle – while Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie is also expecting them to replace Bruce.

Many Newcastle fans are buzzing on Twitter with Downie’s latest takeover update.

A major breakthrough was made on Wednesday when Saudi Arabia and beIN Sport came to an agreement that will see the sports broadcaster allowed to stream in Saudi Arabia, which was seemingly holding back the takeover.

The Magpies have had a tough time of it under Ashley, experiencing two relegations from the Premier League, while also finishing fifth and qualifying for the Europa League in 2011/12, but that was to be a false dawn as nothing has ever come close to that achievement under their outgoing owner.
