Plenty of Newcastle United fans have flocked to social media to discuss the future and impact of Joe Willock, who joined the club permanently over the summer following a loan spell on Tyneside.

The former Arsenal man drew plenty of attention as the ex-Gunner made a cameo against Chelsea, with many picking up on a perceived lack of enthusiasm for Newcastle during his time on the pitch.

Many fans flocked to Twitter as they piled on the criticism of Willock’s attitude and how disinterested he appeared to look, with many speculating on the low morale that might be causing a motivation malaise at Newcastle.

What have some Newcastle fans been saying?

“Was watching the game yesterday at St James’ and I like the lad but Joe Willock does NOT look interested at all. He was ok for the few mins he was on the pitch but warming up he couldn’t care less. One for the the future”

@kilchol

“By the way…how long is it before we start filing Joe Willock under the likes of Joelinton and Lewis?”

@Stui_86

“Joe Willock, love him but he’s done nothing since coming to Newcastle after his successful loan spell”

“Have we still got the receipt for Willock?”

@MisterGX9

Many fans evidently feel the best of Willock has been and gone.

In terms of direct productivity in front of goal, it seems there is still work for the playmaker to do if he is to cement himself as a nailed-on starter for the Magpies.
