Plenty of Newcastle fans have flocked to social media to discuss a Tweet from journalist Luke Edwards of The Telegraph after he slammed Newcastle for their performance in their 3-0 defeat to Chelsea.

Edwards took particular issue with the manner in which Graeme Jones’ side acquiesced to the Blues, who find themselves clear at the top of the league after the result.

Commenting on the game, Edwards said:

“That was awful. A team which stinks of relegation. Players arguing amongst themselves in the first half. One shot on target, which came at 3-0 down in the 85th minute and no corners. #nufc did not just lose, they didn’t even try to win.”

Do you think Lampard would've been a good appointment?

Many fans shared that sentiment as they piled on the criticism of their team and demanded swift action.

What have some Newcastle fans been saying?

“Maybe all the Bruce haters realise it’s not him now”

@25killy

“Midfield has been a disaster since the Championship period. Ritchie, Hayden, Lascelles, Manquillo, Krafth all need banished from January. Thank them for their service and cheerio.”

@diabeatnik_

“Honest lad! Where was this criticism when Bruce was in charge? Literally no difference.”

@ions316

“Solid enough for 60 mins, subs mistake threw us off, James scored then heads well and truly went. Ritchie is finished, Dummet and Dubravka need to come in ASAP.  Willock is a shadow of last season, literally does nothing, same for Longstaff.”

@anything435

“Only consolation is under Bruce it would have been double figures – but does highlight how quickly these new owners need to appoint the new manager”

@finnaz1892

“That was worse than Bruce ball.”

@MichaelSpeddin1

Fans maintain a voracious appetite for a change following the result and plenty of players came under the limelight for their performances.

The result is one to forget and the Mags will need to lick their wounds quickly.
