Newcastle United fans have been reacting to footage of Les Ferdinand that the club have posted on social media.

One of the key things that the new owners at Newcastle United are looking to do following their purchase of the club last week is to make sure that they respect the club’s past whilst at the same time, look at building towards the future.

The former greats of the club were not well treated during the Mike Ashley years, with Alan Shearer’s bar being renamed and Kevin Keegan essentially being banned from St. James’ Park being just two examples.

But speaking after the deal was completed, new club director Amanda Staveley said that “it is very important that we deal with all the greats”.

And the club have made a promising start to that, as the club’s in-house media team have released an interview with Ferdinand ahead of their clash against another one of his former sides, Tottenham Hotspur, this weekend.

A short teaser of the interview was released on social media for fans to react to, and it’s fair to say they were very happy to see the club doing a feature with him:

“Now the shackles are off. look at the content. This is what a club channel should be doing.”

“Class this”
“No way we’re actually recognising our legends again”
“Honestly this last decade you’d have thought NUFC had no legends. More content like this, reconnect the club’s history”
“Respecting our legends we do like to see this”
“Sir Les for DOF”
“I would absolutely love to see that happen tbh”

Judging by their reaction, it seems like this could just be the start of an avalanche of interaction with former players. It makes you wonder what the next one is going to be.
