A number of Newcastle United fans have vented their anger online after Steve Bruce claimed the club was unlucky to lose their latest league fixture.

Over the weekend, the Magpies fell to a 2-1 defeat away to Wolves in the Premier League thanks to a double from Hwang Hee-chan, whose goals cancelled out Jeff Hendrick’s equaliser.

The loss means Newcastle are now one place from bottom in the league and have still not won a single game as they head into the second international break of the season.

Despite the poor result, while speaking in a post-match interview, Bruce maintained that the game could have gone either way, stating: “I can’t remember my goalkeeper making a save, but we’ve conceded twice.”

The quotes were soon topic for discussion amongst the club’s fanbase and it doesn’t seem as if many of them agreed with Bruce’s stance.

Do you think Newcastle can avoid relegation with Bruce in charge this season?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Here’s what these Newcastle fans said…

“Shambles.”

“They scored two goals and hit the bar when they should have scored another.”
“Clueless he is.”
“Tells ya everything you need to know about Steve Bruce. The blokes running about in the fog, lost and oblivious.”
“He’s just on a wind up now like.”
“Unbelievable.”
“Stealing a wage at this point”
It’s pretty clear to see these fans don’t share their manager’s views on the game. However, taking a look at the more simple statistics from the game – which show possession was only spilt 52% to 48% in Watford’s favour, and that the Magpies registered one more shot at goal (8) than their opposition (7) – perhaps Bruce would be able to back up his argument.
