Plenty of Newcastle United fans have been left extremely excited after seeing their club be linked with Atletico Madrid duo Diego Simeone and Andrea Berta.
The rumour mill has been working on overdrive ever since the Saudi-led consortium took over the Magpies, as they look set to invest millions into the club across the next few seasons.

Now, according to a report in Spanish media outlet AS, which emerged before Steve Bruce was let go by the club, Newcastle’s new owners want to recruit Atletico’s sporting director Andrea Berta, as well as trying to bring Diego Simeone over to Tyneside with him.
The information was shared on Twitter by club fanpage NUFC 360 and was soon being celebrated by a number of delighted Magpies supporters.

For all the excitement, Steve Bruce still remains very much in charge of the Magpies. What’s more, the club have plenty of work to do on the pitch if they want to attract the sort of talent they keep being linked with.
Indeed, with the club stuck in the relegation zone, they quickly need to turn their form around. After all, it’s hard to see Simeone swapping the Champions League for the Championship any time soon.
