A number of Newcastle United fans have been left elated after seeing an image of Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi at St. James’ Park.
The big news in English football at the moment is, of course, the recent purchase of Newcastle by a Saudi-led consortium.
The change in ownership means the much-maligned reign of Mike Ashley finally comes to an end after 14 years in charge.
Will Newcastle be in the Champions League in three years?
Ushering in the new era, the club’s official Twitter page shared an image of new club director Staveley and her husband – and partner at PCP Capital Partners, one of the club’s new investors – Ghodoussi smiling in the club’s famous stadium.
At the moment, Magpies supporters seem ready to celebrate everything and anything – this picture was certainly no exception.
Here’s what these Newcastle fans said…
“What a beautiful sight.”
For all the optimism, however, the club currently sit all the way down at the bottom of the league table in 19th spot. With the new owners unable to make any signing until January, it will be interesting to see how the club fair in the coming months.
Still, as evidenced by the tweets above, these NUFC fans are more than excited to witness a new period in the club’s history.
