A number of Newcastle United fans have erupted after seeing Zinedine Zidane be linked with the manager’s job at their club.
Even before the recent takeover at Newcastle, Steve Bruce’s days in charge of the club seemed to be numbered. It now looks rather unlikely that he’ll still have his job by the end of the week.
And so, if one manager is set to leave, another must come in. This has led to a lot of speculation in the media, but one name, in particular, has the Magpies’ support rather excited.
According to a report in the Mirror, the former Real Madrid manager’s name has been mentioned as a possible successor to Bruce on Tyneside.
The story was shared on Twitter and it soon caused a fair amount of commotion within the team’s online community.

It’s easy to gather just how amazed these fans are to see such a big name simply linked with their club. Zidane is certainly the sort of man whose career demands that sort of respect.
As a player, he won the World Cup, the Champions League, La Liga, the Ballon d’Or, and more. Though it’s what he has achieved as a manager that will have these fans talking.
Indeed, while in charge of Real Madrid he led them to three successive Champions League triumphs, La Liga twice, as well as two Club World Cups.
It should be mentioned that the report went on to claim there was ‘little appetite’ to install Zidane as the next Toon boss, but with a resume as accomplished as that, the Magpies could do a lot worse than to find the Frenchman taking over from Bruce.
