Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed what he believes will be the ‘first step’ of the new Newcastle United owners’ ‘ambitious’ plans.

With the Saudi-led consortium taking over the club in recent days, it looks as though a great deal of money could soon be pumped into the Magpies.

However, as of yet, no new manager has been hired and no players have been signed – of course, the latter cannot happen until the transfer market opens again in January.

Still, there has been an awful lot of talk regarding the sorts of players who could soon find themselves at the Premier League club.

With this in mind, while talking on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE, Romano explained that the first step for the club will be to fire Steve Bruce and hire a replacement.

He said: “They will do something big, they will do something ambitious. Because I’m told that, as you know, of course, it is public, that they are going to do something big, they want to do something important for Newcastle.

“So the project is so, so ambitious. I think the first step, from what I’m told, will be the manager.”

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle and their future…

In the short term, the Magpies have plenty to sort out if they want to even be in the Premier League this season.

Where do you think Newcastle United will finish this season?

Without a win after seven games, they sit 19th in the league having picked up just three points so far. Bruce is still in charge for now, but it doesn’t look like he will be for long.

If the club can hire a good replacement manager and then make a few ‘big’ signings in the near future, as Romano claims they want to, it could yet turn out to be quite an eventful campaign for Newcastle.
