A number of Newcastle United fans have reacted positively after Amanda Staveley clarified that Steve Bruce would be taking charge of their upcoming match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Following with Saudi-led takeover of the club, the general consensus had been that Bruce would be sacked and someone else would be brought in to spearhead the new era on Tyneside.

However, ahead of their next Premier League fixture, Staveley has confirmed that Bruce will remain in charge for the next game at the very least.

A key part of the statement read: “We have had an extremely busy week reviewing the business and getting to know people and it is imperative that we continue to be patient and considered in our approach.”

The information was shared by the official Newcastle Twitter account and the club’s supporters were quick to flock to the message.

“I agree with everything here. And communication from the club is going to take some getting used to. Good stuff.”
“A club that communicates with fans. Let’s make the Sunday electric about the club, not Bruce.”

The news could have gone down very badly, but it seems as though these supporters were at least grateful for the clear and upfront communication.
