Many Newcastle United fans have displayed their joy online after hearing Eddie Howe has been linked as a possible Steve Bruce replacement.
Bruce has now been dismissed as Toon boss, though speculation has rumbled on regarding his potential replacement for weeks – and intensified since the club’s takeover.
Another name to be thrown into the hat as a managerial candidate is former Bournemouth boss Howe. Earlier this week, as reported by the Mirror, Howe emerged as a new choice in discussions for the position.
Would Eddie Howe be a good fit for Newcastle?
Yes
No
Prior to Bruce’s exit, the news story was shared on the official Sky Sports Twitter page. Naturally, it had a number of Magpies supporters offering their thoughts on the matter.
Here’s what these Newcastle fans said…
“Get this done today. Bruce cannot be allowed to oversee training this week and another game. Every further game player under him is an opportunity lost to gain points.”
“Nufc fans aren’t sure about Eddie Howe. Think about this. ANYONE is better than Steve Bruce. I’d take him all day long.”
If Howe was to come in over the coming weeks or months, he’d certainly have a big job to do. Indeed, with the Magpies currently languishing in the relegation zone, a quick adaptation period will be needed for whoever comes in to replace Bruce.
Howe does at least have plenty of experience in the Premier League, having overseen 190 Bournemouth games in England’s top flight.
He might not be the most exciting name to be linked with the job, but he could be the best fit – and these fans certainly seem to think so.
