Former Leeds United player David Norris believes Raphinha could possibly be a target for Newcastle United following the takeover of the club.

The Telegraph reported that Newcastle could spend as much as £190m in the January transfer window without breaking the Financial Fair Play rules.

When quizzed on whether Leeds winger Raphinha could be on the Magpies’ radar, Norris told This is Futbol: “Yeah, possibly. The best players in that next group who look like they could play for the top teams, that could definitely work for them.”

Raphinha’s agent former professional footballer Deco, confirmed to Globo Esporte (via the Daily Mirror) that Liverpool like him, saying: “He is young, he has many challenges ahead, there are certainly several clubs that like him, and Liverpool do like him, there were approaches, but nothing official.”

The Brazil international, who former White David Prutton claims is now worth £100m-plus, hit the ground running for Leeds last season in his first season with the club as he scored six goals in the Premier League and registered nine assists. Prior to the international break this season, Raphinha scored three goals in seven top-flight matches.

He has also shone on the international stage with Chelsea defender Thiago Silva full of praise for him and Antony, telling UOL (via 101 Great Goals) after Brazil’s draw against Columbia: “If we had managed to win, we would be talking more about them [Raphinha & Antony]. The boys showed a quality that I have hardly seen in more than ten years with the Brazilian national team [of newcomers].”
