Many Newcastle United fans flocked to Twitter after hearing that Elliott Dickman has been appointed in a new role with the club’s academy. 

Indeed, the club’s official website recently announced that the former Sunderland man is to be the Magpies’ new lead player development coach for the club’s U23s side.

The story explained that the 43-year-old arrives having been with the Black Cats for a number of years, helping several young stars progress into the Sunderland senior team during his time with the club.
