Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Donny van de Beek will leave Manchester United this January.

The 24-year-old joined Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team only last year, but has failed to make much of an impression in Manchester, with his game time severely limited this season and last.

As a consequence, there has been plenty of talk about a potential exit for the Dutchman in recent times, though no deal was actually completed over the summer.

However, while speaking as a guest on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube show, Romano claimed that if the situation continues, he is ‘sure’ Van de Beek will leave in January.

He went into detail, saying: “I’m sure that the situation will change in one sense or the other. He has to play with Man United, or he will leave in January. They’re already looking for solutions.

“Spanish, Italian clubs looking for him. Let’s see if in [the] Premier League, someone will try again after Everton, but I’m sure that Van de Beek will leave if the situation will continue like this.”

TIF Thoughts on Donny van de Beek and  Manchester United…

The midfielder has sat on the bench for six out of the seven Man United games in the league so far – coming on for just six minutes against Newcastle United.

With only one full 90-minute appearance under his belt this season (coming in the League Cup), it’s easy to imagine Van de Beek wanting to leave the club at his next possible opportunity.

For Romano to say ‘they’re already looking for solutions’ shows just how likely this deal is to happen.

Will Donny van de Beek do well if he leaves Man United?

Even if he hasn’t been able to show it often in Manchester, his time with Ajax did prove the 24-year-old to be a highly talented prospect. With that in mind, it seems quite likely that he will be able to attract good offers from a few decent teams over the winter market.
