Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Paul Pogba is ‘happy’ at Manchester United – but this doesn’t mean he will sign a new contract.

The Frenchman’s current deal expires in the summer, so he will be free to talk to foreign clubs about a pre-signing agreement this January transfer market, which has led to much talk about his future.

According to Romano, a contract offer from United has actually been ‘on the table’ since around July, but evidently, Pogba is yet to be convinced of the project in Manchester.

While talking as a guest on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE, the journalist went into great detail on the subject. He explained that Pogba is very happy with the ‘atmosphere’ after some key transfer signings, but this may not define his contract decision.

He said: “What I know is that Pogba is happy with Man United life, he is happy with Man United atmosphere with Ronaldo, Varane, Sancho – fantastic signings.

“They will need some time, of course, to fix the team on the pitch, but he’s happy with Man United life. But it doesn’t mean that he’s going to sign the contract 100%.

“So he has a Man United life side and a contract side. And on the new contract side, there’s still no agreement. There is a new contract, from what I’m told, on the table for Pogba and his agent Mino Raiola since July.

“It was July, the end of June, the beginning of July, and Pogba has not decided yet. They don’t have a final decision, so they’re still waiting.”

TIF Thoughts on Paul Pogba and Manchester United…

Since re-joining the Red Devils back in 2016, it’s not quite worked out for Pogba – the Frenchman has been unable to help the club successfully challenge for the Premier League or Champions League.

Still, with a World Cup triumph under his belt with France, there is no denying his talent. This, of course, means that there will likely be plenty of interested parties looking at Pogba if he has not signed his new contract by January.

Will Paul Pogba sign a new contract with Man United?

Over the past summer, Paris Saint-Germain made a habit of signing high-profile players who were out of contract. Perhaps they would look to repeat the trick and bring the Frenchman back to his home country.
