Speaking on The Phil Hay Show, The Athletic journalist has been discussing how Marcelo Bielsa is feeling and coming across at the minute.

It was a disappointing result last week for Leeds as they lost 1-0 away to Southampton, who had not picked up three points all season and in beating Leeds, jumped ahead of them in the Premier League.

Should Leeds sack Bielsa?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Bielsa held his pre-match press conference on Thursday, which saw him send a rallying call to his players, and Hay has claimed on Twitter that this has been one of Bielsa’s toughest weeks as manager of Leeds United.

Hay spoke at length about how this has been a difficult period of time for Bielsa.

“I very much think he knows what he’s doing. I still think he is constrained by what’s going on in the treatment room. There’s no Robin Koch this weekend, there’s no Luke Ayling still, there’s no [Patrick] Bamford unfortunately, there’s no Junior Firpo, either.

“I think all of them could potentially be available for Norwich, but Norwich is another week away and it’s Wolves that’s right in the eye of the lens at the moment. So it’s tough, and you can see from looking at him and hearing him speak that he knows it’s tough.”

TIF Thoughts on Leeds and Bielsa…

Despite former Leeds shot-stopper Paul Robinson claiming that Mauricio Pochettino should replace Bielsa if he decides to leave, the current boss may be offered time to turn around the fortunes of the club considering that he got them into the top flight for the first time in 16 years.

It’s safe to say that Leeds have been brought crashing back down to earth following their fantastic campaign last time out, but they can also count themselves unlucky given the volume of injuries they’ve picked up, as well as the calibre of players who have picked up knocks.
