Leeds United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest stat to emerge on Twitter following Marcelo Bielsa’s side abject defeat to Southampton.
Leeds mustered just one shot at goal in an appalling first half display, whereas Southampton dominated proceedings at St.Mary’s Stadium on Saturday. While the second half was a somewhat tighter affair, the Saints managed to find a winner through Armando Borja, condemning Leeds to a fourth defeat after just eight games in the league this campaign.
To add insult to injury, the defeat also marked the first occasion that Leeds failed to register a single shot on-target in a league game for the first time since March 2019 (0-1 v Sheff Utd).
Is Marcelo Bielsa to blame for Southampton defeat?YesNo |
This shocking stat has subsequently caught the attention of a lot of Leeds supporters, who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on the matter.
So, what did these Leeds fans have to say in response to the abject stat that emerged following display against Southampton?
“Their keeper could’ve gotten a lawn chair out if he wanted and sat on it for 90 mins”
“Our worst performance under Bielsa. Pitiful. Embarrassing”
“Relegation form”
“The worry here is we need 7-8 shots on target for every goal … let that sink in”
“Says it all really”
“Shots on target has been an issue all season . They are at 28 percent , they were 37 percent last season”
“Awful”
“Forshaw is like a new signing.. Bielsa likes thin squad. Only Value for money signings.”.. Pathetic. Players have burnt out themselves. @andrearadri u shd have bought more players. Your ambition was mid table, now brace for relegation Dogfight.”
There was little for Marcelo Bielsa to cheer in his 150th game in charge of Leeds, with the defeat now meaning the Yorkshire side remain 16th in the table, with just one win in their eight games so far this campaign.
The Whites will be looking to return to winning ways when they host Bruno Lage’s Wolves next weekend at Elland Road.
