Many Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to laud Dan James’ fine performance against Watford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

A first-half strike from Diego Llorente was enough to ensure that Marcelo Bielsa’s side came away with all three points from their encounter with the Hornets at Elland Road – their first victory of the new top-flight campaign.

Was Dan James your MOTM vs Watford?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

While it was hardly the most vintage of Leeds displays, there were promising signs to say the least, with James in particular showing evidence of why Bielsa was so keen to bring him to the club not just this summer, but a couple of years ago too.

And, after watching his performance, Leeds fans were quick to lavish the Wales international with praise.

What did Leeds fans think of Dan James’ display vs Watford?

“Dan James has been superb, a constant threat in behind”

@LUFCMOTcom

“What? Best player on the pitch by a mile”

@OliverMedd7

“Getting better and better every game.”

@sandy_jarvis

“MOTM for me”

@jaysonboocker

“MOM easily today”

@johnnydawson_10

“Thought he was sensational today. To be fair though, that sentiment goes for half of the 11 or so. Need to find that killer touch in front of goal though..”

@manlikemacey

“I said this from the start. He’s gonna be a huge star.”

@MrMartinSir

Writing in his post-match player ratings for Leeds Live, Beren Cross gave him a seven, saying: “Faded in the second half, but really caught the eye before the break, with the ball and without it. Finally looking to link up with teammates in these passing patterns the team builds. His pressing was electric and forced multiple nervy moments for the visitors.”

James’ rapid pace was on show all game, and with the level of intensity in his off-the-ball work that he also brought to the table, the Watford defence looked shaky every-time he came to chase them down with his relentless energy.

Who was Bielsa's first competitive game as Leeds manager against?

If he can just add a bit more end product to his game over the coming weeks and months of this season, he could become an even bigger danger under Bielsa’s leadership.

In other news, Leeds fans were in love with this moment yesterday…
