A whole host of Leeds United fans are furious with Rodrigo and his performances, following Graham Smyth’s claim on Twitter.

The Spaniard is the club’s record signing having been brought in from Valencia in the summer of 2020 for £27 million, but with seven league goals last term and having yet to find the back of the net this season – even in the absence of Patrick Bamford – time may be running out for him to make the grade at Elland Road.

Should Leeds sell Rodrigo?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

It appears that Rodrigo is struggling to find that much-needed quality in the final third. While he is getting opportunities, with 44.4% of his shots ending up on target, it’s just that they aren’t troubling ‘keepers enough – and following a disappointing result against Southampton, Smyth has highlighted that Rodrigo must become a solution for Leeds when they’re struggling.

In response, a lot of Leeds fans are fuming on Twitter with Rodrigo’s displays this season.

What have these Leeds fans been saying?

“When’s Rodrigo going to show anything though – 8 games in hasn’t looked like hitting a barn door – more than a bit worrying”

@ronaallleeds

“Another one of Ortas terrible signings. Time to bring in a competent Director of Football!”

@FourKandols

Nice piece and well summed up. Increasingly worried that the players we should be able to depend on are nowhere to be found other than Raph & KP. A side with Harrison, James, Rodrigo, Klich & Dallas should be able to register more than we did against a team there for the taking.”

@be87808

“If that performance from him wasn’t a problem I don’t know what is. He literally gave the ball away every time he touched it. He’s not a Premiership player – whatever position he plays in – and neither is Firpo.”

@bigginslondon

“Massive waste of money. Not what we needed. Cannot play as a 9 in this league. Might do better playing alongside a 9 in a 2 upfront but Bielsa doesn’t play that way. Therefore he’s backup for Bamford. Except he’s not cos he can’t play 9 in this league. Terrible signing.”

@Chris1014Lee

“He’s had enough chances. He has been absolutely woeful. He’s a 30 milllion pound player but he even has a woeful touch.. He has to keep the ball up top and he never does.”

@samcussins

It is obviously not just Rodrigo that is underperforming this campaign, as Leeds currently sit 17th in the Premier League having won just once, with last season’s ninth-place finish and the heroics of taking points off the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea appearing a distant memory.
