A whole host of Leeds United fans are buzzing on Twitter with the latest Kalvin Phillips contract news.

It’s been a very impressive 12 months for Phillips, who has proven himself to be a regular in the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa as well as for the Three Lions under Gareth Southgate – and even managed to bag himself the England Player of the Year award.

Will Raphinha play for Leeds right after the international break?

Phillips’ performances have attracted interest from some of England’s top clubs such as Manchester United, but reports have recently emerged from Football Insider suggesting that the midfielder is to sign a new deal with Leeds before the January transfer window.

A lot of Leeds fans on Twitter are buzzing with this Phillips news.

What have these Leeds fans been saying?

“THATS TASTES LIKE PROMOTION”

@AlfiebottsLUFC

“Should be the highest earner without question England starter and the first name on the TS for us.”

@Si_Bakes

I have such immense respect for@Kalvinphillips. We might not be the biggest club in the world but he shows such loyalty and commitment, could walk into most teams yet stands with us. Top man.”

@Yorksfromhome

“That’s what we like to hear. For me, Kalvin is our most important player. Very difficult to replace.”

@philthy50

“Great news cant come quick enough”

@BadgeSmiley

“Another reason to be cheerful”

@Adventu02457903

Phillips still has another three years on his current contract, but if a player of his calibre indicates that he’s happy to remain at the club, Leeds would be foolish not to act on that and tie him down for a prolonged period of time to put off any potential suitors.

A new contract may well come with a hefty release clause after Aston Villa set something of a precedent over the summer. They were only willing to accept the one which was inserted into Jack Grealish’s contract totalling £100 million – something Manchester City obliged to do and Leeds fans will only want their star man to be leaving for a similar price.
