Leeds United fans have been reacting to claims that they have reached an agreement to sign youngster Mateo Joseph.
According to Spanish journalist Diego Balbontin, Marcelo Bielsa’s side have reached a ‘total agreement between club and player’ to sign the 17-year-old from Espanyol.
Although, he does note there does appear to be some issues between the two respective clubs to get the deal done, with his current side considering Leeds United’s bid of €500k ‘insufficient’ when he has a reported release clause of €1.5m (£1.3m), with the player set to become a free agent next summer.
The news was relayed to the supporters by @leedsutdacademy for them to react to, and it generated some interesting responses, with a few of them very excited at the prospect of being in the closing stages of completing the deal:
“It wouldn’t surprise me if this goes through in January as long as we agree to him staying on loan til the end of the season.”
Will Leeds finish in the top half this season?
Yes
No
Whether or not he’s going to make an impact – or if he could just be another Rafa Mujica situation, who came and went without a senior appearance – we’ll just have to wait and see, but it looks as if Leeds are well on their way to adding another young prospect to their side.
