Leeds United fans have been reacting to an article that has emerged about their young talent Joe Gelhardt.
The 19-year-old has been something of a fringe figure since his arrival at Elland Road in the summer of 2020, having made the bench a number of times in the Premier League, but has only made one senior appearance, coming in their recent Carabao Cup victory over Fulham.
However despite his lack of prominence, his performances at youth level, where he has scored an impressive number of goals for the Leeds U23 side, have earned him some recognition, including his recent call-up to the England U21 side.
Would you like to see Joe Gelhardt play ahead of Tyler Roberts?
Yes
No
Goal recently wrote an article about him and his career that noted comparisons to Wayne Rooney amongst other things, profiling his rise over the years to where he is now.
The article was then shared on Twitter, where there were a number of Leeds fans who were happy to take the opportunity to praise and hype up the youngster as his career looks set to take off:
“And he still can’t get a game”
It certainly seems as if there are a lot of fans who think he has something about him, but as always with young kids, you don’t want to hype them up too much, or they risk becoming another statistic when it comes to flops who couldn’t deliver.
